We spent Saturday afternoon with friends in their lovely Georgian house with a very fine blue carpeted staircase.

This was a bit of a desperate last minute photo shot at the start of my yoga class.  It's a pile of rather scruffy and overused mats in the corner of the studio.

I'm cooking a slow lamb shank recipe from this book for supper tonight.  It's one of my best loved cookery books from a fantastic restaurant I've been luck enough to eat in twice.

I walked to the post office this afternoon, it was freezing cold but beautifully sunny.  There was a real dearth of dark blues along my suburban route, just some street signs and shop signs and then I walked past this lovely blue fence.

This vase is one of a much mended pair which have been sitting on my mum's Victorian sideboard for my whole life.  I've never photographed them before, so it's about time!

I went to Ashbury Service Station to see what I could find to spice up my dark blues and did indeed shoot the dramatic and impressive graffiti wall but actually found this unassuming scrawl on the wall opposite more interesting!

Just made the midnight deadline with this one as we were at a friends birthday party and I suddenly remembered my daily task and had to rush around looking for something appropriate.  Worked out rather nicely in the end!

I know it looks black, but this lovely jug is dark blue (honest!).

It was rather a desperate photo today, I'm afraid, where I resorted to taking a picture of my own leg clad in dark blue jeans......

Today's picture is a close up of a vase which used to belong to my grandmother, it's a big hefty piece of Murano glass which used to endlessly fascinate me when I was little and used to stay with them for weeks at a time during my holidays.  I always loved the swirls and blobs of colour and the little sparkly bits.  When she died I rescued it from her belongings as I'm the only one who ever liked it.  It now sits on a sunny window ledge in my dining room and when the sun flows through it, as it did for a nano-second this morning, it looks beautiful.

We have many boats at home (none suitable for a world cruise unfortunately!) and these rather conveniently happened to be dark blue, so here they are in my Dark Blue January.

We popped out for a drink at The Railway on Burton Road in West Didsbury with chums this evening and I realised that I hadn't taken my picture for today.  Look what a glamorous scene I found!

Photographed in Hewitt Street in Manchester.  There's really not very much around in dark blue....

(There's are a few examples of this graffiti around town, I photographed it for the first time in Chinatown way back in 2005)

Well, here goes.

Here's the very first photo in my photo a day project.
